Trainer Recruitment
At First Response Training, we have been dedicated to delivering tailored training solutions for health and social care for over 25 years. We are proud to collaborate with local and national care providers, NHS Trusts, dental practices, and care recruitment agencies across the UK.
We are currently recruiting Facilitating Trainers and Experts with Lived Experience to join our team in delivering the Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disabilities and Autism.
What is Oliver’s Training?
The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism is named after Oliver McGowan, whose tragic and avoidable death highlighted the critical need for better training for health and social care staff. This training ensures staff have the right skills and knowledge to provide safe, compassionate, and informed care to people with learning disabilities and autistic people.
Tier 1
Interactive online session
For staff requiring general awareness about supporting autistic people or those with learning disabilities. Suitable for non-patient-facing roles.
Tier 2
Face-to-face training
For staff responsible for providing care and support to autistic people or those with learning disabilities, including decision-makers.
Facilitating Trainers
We have a large number of Tier 1 and Tier 2 Facilitating Trainers based across the UK. They are qualified and experienced trainers, many with relevant personal experience in the subject matter. We are looking for more people to join our training team of dedicated, passionate trainers to deliver the Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training to a wide range of learners.
Expert Co-Trainers
We work with several experts with lived experience of learning disabilities and/or autism. We help develop their skills to co-deliver valuable training within a team. We now have Expert Co-Trainers based across the UK, and we are looking for more people to join our team.
Training Trios
Both the 60 minute interactive online webinar and the 1-day face-to-face training course must be co-delivered by a trio of trainers.
An experienced and qualified Facilitating Trainer will lead delivery, supported by a person with a learning disability and an autistic person, both known as Experts with Lived Experience.
An approved Facilitating Trainer for the Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training will lead delivery of the 60-minute interactive online webinar (for Tier 1) or the 1-day face-to-face training course (for Tier 2).
An expert with lived experience of learning disability co-trainer will help to deliver the training.
An autistic expert with lived experience co-trainer will also help to deliver the training.
