Mental Health, Dementia and Learning Disability Level 1
The Mental Health, Dementia and Learning Disability Level 1 course aims to provide an introduction to mental health, dementia and learning disabilities, with a focus on promoting positive well-being. The course is designed for healthcare support workers and adult social care workers who work with individuals who have these conditions or who may be at risk of developing them.
The course covers topics such as the signs and symptoms of mental health, dementia and learning disabilities, understanding the impact on individuals and their families, communication strategies, and ways to promote positive mental health and well-being.
Upon completion of the course, successful candidates will receive a certificate valid for 3 years. The course duration is 1.5 hours. This course costs £170 for up to 12 learners. Prices may vary based on your requirements.
Learning Objectives
- Describe the needs and experiences of people with mental health conditions, dementia or learning disabilities

Aim: To help healthcare support workers and adult social care workers to understand how to prepare and handle food safely and hygienically and understand the importance of good nutrition and hydration.

Aim: To help healthcare support workers and adult social care workers with basic knowledge of medications, their effects and safety issues and how to assist with healthcare tasks.
Infection Control and Prevention Awareness
Aim: To introduce healthcare support workers and adult social care workers to the principles of infection control and prevention.

Aim: To help healthcare support workers and adult social care workers to communicate effectively to improve outcomes for individuals they support.
Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Awareness
Aim: To help healthcare support workers and adult social care workers understand the principles of equality and diversity, how to promote inclusion and reduce discrimination.
