Food Safety, Nutrition and Hydration Level 1
Food Safety, Nutrition, and Hydration Level 1 is a training course designed to help healthcare support workers and adult social care workers understand the importance of food safety, good nutrition, and hydration in their workplaces. The aim of the course is to provide learners with the basic knowledge and skills required to prepare and handle food safely and hygienically.
The course covers a range of topics, including personal hygiene, food safety and contamination, food storage, temperature control, nutrition, and hydration. Learners will learn about the importance of personal hygiene, such as handwashing, to prevent the spread of harmful bacteria and how to maintain a clean and hygienic workplace.
The course also covers the principles of food safety, including the causes of foodborne illnesses and how to prevent them. Learners will learn about the correct storage and temperature control of food to prevent the growth of harmful bacteria. They will also learn about the importance of proper food-handling techniques to prevent cross-contamination.
In addition to food safety, the course covers the importance of good nutrition and hydration in maintaining overall health and well-being. Learners will learn about the different food groups and the importance of a balanced diet. They will also learn about the importance of hydration and the signs of dehydration.
The course is typically delivered over a period of 1.5 hours and includes practical exercises and assessments to ensure that learners have a basic understanding of the course content. Successful candidates will be issued with a certificate valid for 3 years, which demonstrates their competence in food safety, nutrition, and hydration practices.
