Diabetes Awareness Level 2
The Diabetes Awareness Level 2 course is specifically designed for healthcare support workers and adult social care workers who provide care and support to individuals with diabetes. The aim of this course is to enhance participants' understanding and awareness of diabetes, its symptoms, treatments, and potential side effects.
Successful completion of the Diabetes Awareness Level 2 course will result in the issuance of a certificate that remains valid for 3 years. This certificate acknowledges the participants' enhanced knowledge and understanding of diabetes care, as well as their commitment to providing quality support to individuals with diabetes.
The course has a duration of 3 hours, allowing participants to gain valuable insights and practical knowledge within a concise timeframe. The training sessions are interactive and engaging, incorporating discussions, case studies, and scenario-based exercises to facilitate the learning and application of skills. The course costs £365 for up to 12 learners. Prices may vary based on your unique requirements.
Learning Objectives
- Identify what diabetes is, how it occurs and the different types
- Recognise the symptoms of diabetes and signs of complications
- Understand the action they should take in the event of hypo or hyperglycaemia
- Have an understanding of the treatments for diabetes
Clinical Skills Courses
Epilepsy and Emergency Medication Awareness
Aim: To provide healthcare support workers and adult social care workers with a basic knowledge of epilepsy, the management of seizures and the use of emergency medication.
Catheter Care
This classroom training aims to ensure learners have an understanding of how to care for a person with an indwelling catheter. The course is taught in person by one of our trainers.
Epilepsy Awareness
Aim: To provide delegates with a basic knowledge of epilepsy and the management of seizures.
Diabetes Awareness
Aim: To provide healthcare support workers and adult social care workers with a greater awareness about diabetes, its symptoms, treatments and side effects for those working with people who have diabetes.
Anaphylaxis and Emergency Medication Awareness
This 2-hour classroom informs healthcare support workers and social care workers about anaphylaxis and explains the administration of medication to control it.
Inhalers and Nebulisers
Aim: To introduce healthcare support workers and adult social care workers to the use of inhalers and nebulisers, when treating asthma and COPD.
Basic Clinical Observations
This course aims to introduce healthcare support workers and adult social care workers to the basic techniques used to observe and monitor the condition of patients and individuals using services, including pain and discomfort levels.
Stoma Care Awareness
Aim: To ensure that delegates working in the adult social care sector have an understanding of what a stoma is, why a person may have one and the potential side effects.
PEG Feeding Awareness
Aim: To give learners the underpinning knowledge of the principles of PEG feeding.
