Level 2 Award in Moving, Assisting and Hoisting

The aim of the Moving, Assisting & Hoisting Level 2 course is to provide healthcare support workers and adult social care workers with the necessary knowledge and skills to safely move and assist individuals, including the proper use of hoisting equipment. The course emphasizes the importance of conducting risk assessments before engaging in any moving and assisting tasks.

Upon successfully completing the Moving, Assisting & Hoisting Level 2 course, participants will receive a certificate that is valid for a period of 3 years. This certification serves as evidence of their competence in understanding and applying the principles taught in the course. The course spans a total of 1 day or 6 hours. During this time, participants will engage in theoretical learning, practical demonstrations, and hands-on practice related to moving, assisting, and hoisting techniques.

Learning Objectives

  • Understand basic anatomy and physiology of the spine
  • Assess moving and assisting operations, reducing the risk where reasonably practicable
