Level 2 Award in Dementia Awareness

The Dementia Awareness Level 2 course is designed to provide healthcare support workers and adult social care workers with an understanding of dementia and how to improve the quality of life for people living with dementia. The course covers topics such as the causes of dementia, common types of dementia, symptoms, and communication skills for interacting with people with dementia. The aim of the course is to increase knowledge and awareness of dementia and to improve the level of care provided to those living with the condition. The course has a duration of 3 hours and successful candidates will be issued with a certificate that is valid for 3 years.

  • Understand key features of the theoretical models of dementia
  • Know the most common types of dementia and their causes
  • Understand factors relating to an individual’s experience of dementia
