Report into progress of Social Work R...

The publication of a report detailing the progress of the Social Work Reform Board has been welcomed by Skills for Care.

The report, entitled ‘One Year On’, has been heralded by the regulatory body as an important step forward for the social care profession. As well as charting the advances made in the sector, it also encompasses proposals for the future.

Skills for Care has been an active partner of the Reform Board since its inception and it will continue to provide support as the board develops the detailed proposals outlined in the report.

Sharon Allen, the CEO of Skills for Care, said: “Skills for Care has been involved with the work of the Social Work Reform Board from day one and we believe that the publication of the report and a first set of proposals to put social workers on a greater professional footing is an important step forward.”

“Under the leadership of Moria Gibb the Reform Board has brought together all the major partners across social work to produce a set of practical proposals that will help individual social workers, employers and social work educators to do their work better to support those who use social work in their communities.”

First Response Training, which delivers a wide range of health and social care training, has continued to expand and diversify its portfolio of specialist courses in 2010 and has worked with a number of local authority adult social services departments, providing them with the necessary training to meet the needs of their service users.
