First Response Training supports Dign...

As a leading provider of training for the health and social care sector, First Response Training is proud to support Dignity Action Day, which contributes to improving people’s rights in care.

Dignity Action Day takes places on Wednesday 1st February, with many supporters within the sector working to raise awareness throughout the week. First Response, which trains just under 2,000 care organisations every year, in addition to working with over 30 local authorities across the UK, is contributing to Dignity Action Day by including a special dedicated segment in all care-based training they deliver this week.

This special, short presentation reinforces the focus that the national training provider gives to Dignity in Care in its training courses throughout the year. All of First Response’s care training is underpinned with the principles of Dignity in Care as standard and many of their health and social care trainers and consultants are Dignity Champions.

Victoria O’Meara, Head of Quality and Curriculum at First Response, says: “Underpinning our care training with ‘Dignity in Care’ has made a real difference to our training provision as all care courses focus on personalisation, dignity and respect for the person receiving care.

“With our courses reflecting best practice in person centred care, we are able to meet the needs of our clients and improve knowledge and practice for care staff. All courses are mapped to current national occupational standards and champion the latest initiatives from within the care sector.”

First Response Training’s special Dignity Action Day training segment advises delegates that: “Everybody can do their little bit to influence others and change the way care is delivered.” It encourages people to support the campaign and sign up as a Dignity Champion at www.dignityincare.org before outlining the 10-point Dignity Challenge.

Dignity Action Day is designed to give everyone the opportunity to contribute to upholding people's rights to dignity and provide a truly memorable day for all those people receiving care in the UK. It aims to ensure that people in care are treated as individuals and are given choice, control and a sense of purpose in their daily lives while being provided with stimulating activities. The important message is that everyone can make a difference.

Supporting Dignity Action Day will:

*Raise awareness of the importance of Dignity in Care
*Provide someone with an extra special day
*Remind society that the dignity of those in your community is not the sole responsibility of health or social care staff- everyone has a role to play
*Remind the public that staff have a right to be treated with dignity and respect too
*Be part of a national celebration and demonstrate solidarity for Dignity in Care
